Business Visa:

Visas have to be processed by the organizer/counterpart in Bhutan. At your point of entry, you will be required to show your visa clearance letter, the visa will then be stamped on your passport

Tourist Visa

Indian National can obtain a visa at the port of entry on producing a valid passport with a minimum of 6 months validity. For Indian nationals, the entry permit will be issued upon producing Voters Identity Card (VIC) if they do not hold passport

Work Permit Visa

  • Approval from the Department of Labour, Ministry of Labour and Human Resources
  • Duly completed Work Permit application form
  • Duly completed Employer Undertaking
  • Duly completed Employee Undertaking
  • Copy of passport or voter identity card with employment Entry Permit (for nationals of India)
  • Copy of passport with employment visa (for nationals of other countries)
  • Medical Fitness Certificate issued by a competent government certified medical officer in Bhutan
  • Passport size photograph
  • Notarized or original academic certificate (applicable only for nationals of Bangladesh/Maldives/India)
  • The Department may ask for additional documents during assessment, if required

Student Visa

  • 2 Copies of visa application form to be filled completely and signed.
  • Current passport valid for more than 6 months and previous passport.
  • Two Recent Photographs 35 x 45 Background should be white with 80 % face no spectacles or cap, both ears should be visible and teeth should not be visible
  • Recommendation from relevant agency
  • Admission offer from the academic institution in Bhutan
  • Duly completed means of subsistence form
  • Statement of Purpose
  • Memorandum of Understanding (Student exchange program)
  • Undertaking of the institute (Student exchange program)
  • The Department may ask for additional documents during assessment, if required

Note: The Royal Bhutanese Embassy in New Delhi does not issue any visa or entry permit. Bhutanese visas are only issued by the Department of Immigration, Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs in Bhutan

Special guidelines for COVID-19

Limited international flights resumed. Tourism suspended indefinitely. Regular flight connection with Bhutan resumed as per Air Travel Bubble Agreement, anyway only official, business, medical or other essential travel is permitted.

  • Visa on arrival is suspended
  • Passenger with a visa, resident permit or immigration permit issued by Bhutan are not allowed to enter Bhutan if the arrive from or they have visited or transited through COVID-19 affected country
  • Passenger are subjected to medical screening or quarantine for 21 days
  • Passenger must have medical certificate with a negative COVID-19  RT-PC test result. Test must have been taken at most 72hrs before departure
